About the Scholarship

Launched in 2020, the TATA AIG-Avanti Fellows Scholarship program is designed to support girl students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds in India who aspire to pursue higher education in the fields of Engineering and Medicine. This scholarship program is run by TATA AIG General Insurance Company Limited and Avanti Fellows.


The Scholarship program provides comprehensive support to selected scholars, including financial assistance, mentorship, and career guidance. The aim is to equip these scholars with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in their chosen fields and become the torch-bearers of change in their communities. 


The scholarship program provides full financial support for their education, including tuition fees, living expenses, study materials, and a one-time gift of a brand-new laptop. This scholarship program is a highly impactful initiative that is helping to transform the lives of talented and deserving girl students from underserved communities in India.


At present, there are 163 scholars, who are pursuing Engineering and Medical streams in prestigious institutes across the country,  being supported by this scholarship program. The beneficiaries of this scholarship program shall receive financial aid for the duration of their undergraduate education (4 to 5 years depending on the course of study).

Across all these themes, the overall CSR outreach in FY2022-23 was more than 73,000 lives in collaboration with several NGO partners.

About Avanti Fellows

Avanti Fellows is an award-winning non-profit organization established in 2010 by Harvard and IIT Bombay alumni Akshay Saxena and Krishna Ramkumar. Avanti aims to improve the quality of education and opportunities for able but marginalized students, with a cost-effective scalable model, which combines technological innovation, career counselling, and collaborative peer learning. Our mission is to provide high-quality education to underserved children aspiring to study in India’s top colleges. We have our presence in 21 States and 5 Union Territories across India, making Avanti one of the largest and most impactful secondary school interventions in Mathematics and Science. We have over 1,500 alumni at present and have supported over 150 students with scholarships to secure admission into premier engineering and medical universities in India.
